Hello, livejournal friends, you have been missed, and I hope you sweeties are doing well. A special shout-out to ihatecamera, whom I dearly miss and wish I had met a few more times before she left for India.

In about two weeks, I will be packing my bags and leaving for Melbourne, Australia, where I will spend the next two years in University. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about all the exploring I'll get to do. I've spent the last twenty years in a country so small that a fifth of it is man-made - and now I will be in a country (heck - a continent!) that could contain a thousand copies of my country. 8 million square kilometres means plenty of new people to meet, and wonderful, magical places to find. I absolutely can't wait.

OH HAI LJ. We used to be friends.

Unfortunately, my habit of neglecting my Livejournal has increased significantly the passed year, and I sincerely apologize for that. Here is this pretty picture as an apology:

I still go through my f-list every day though, but everything else has been left stagnant. Thankfully, I end school for good in a few weeks, and can move to bigger and better things, and have a not-so muddled mind to make actual posts. That said though, I hope none of you mind that extra-long-hiatuses that much, but if you prefer your LJ friends to update frequently, I hold no grudges should you choose to unfriend me.

But in the effort of making a post that consists of more than a few sentences, and as a way of re-introducing myself, here is that Facts About Yourself meme thing that seems to be going around Facebook now. (Note: There were too many variations on the number of facts you're supposed to give, from 15 to 16 to 25, so I decided on an average of about 19.)

1. I have the unfortunate tendency of developing zits in socially awkward places on my face - the tip of my nose, above my lip, etc.

2. When I say that I can eat a lot, I mean it in the most truthful way. My stomach seems to be a black-hole of sorts and I can out-eat my dad at most meals. Unfortunately, my metabolic rate remains rather disagreeable.

3. The five food items I could survive entirely on for the rest of my life (barring dying of lack of nutrition) are: Chawanmushi, japanese rice crackers, Christmas log cake, minestrone soup and banana fritters.

4. Apparently I have a tiny bald spot of sorts at the back of my head. While this hardly affects my sense of self-confidence (mostly because I can't see it), I still hate having it pointed out.

5. I don't understand why everyone has such a problem with vegetables. FINE THEN, HAVE YOUR FUN WITH THE OTHER FOOD GROUPS.

6. Yes, I like sci-fi. Yes, I don't understand how some people cannot tell an ewok from a wookie, let alone have never watched Star Wars before. Yes, I will judge you on whether you are a fan of Joss Whedon or not. Yes, I like stuff about robots and space and robots in space. All of this doesn't equate me being able to communicate in Klingon.

7. I hardly drink, besides wine and champagne. This is because I can go equally nuts with juice or coffee, and juice tastes way better than FIRE DOWN YOUR THROAAAAAAAATS.

8.When I was 11, I got really obsessed about Buffy, and spent a few hundred dollars on merchandise. I could also recite the entire list of episodes in chronological order. Unfortunately, this will not be my only geeky and somewhat pathetic obsession in my teenage years.

9. I believe in missed connections, long-distance romances, sleeping in, giving presents all year round, and leprechauns.

10. My parents are called Patrick and Patricia (same meaning). My two brothers are called Sean and Shane (also the same meaning). For a while I tried to come up with a new name for my maid so we could share the same name meaning too, but realised I would have to call her Stephen.

11. When I was little, my parents bought a bunk bed for me and my older brother to share. I was pretty psyched about getting top bunk, until I had a terrible nightmare about a T-Rex that poked its head into my bedroom through the door, and ate me first because I was easier to reach. I switched to a single bed from then on.

12. I really like it when boys do the following things: Roll up their shirt sleeves to their elbows, carry messenger bags, bite their lips nervously, and punch me in the face. Guess which one is a lie!

13. My five most common dream topics are - previously-mentioned dinosaurs; apocalyptic sagas involving zombies or a variation of that; swimming with whales and dolphins and generally being awesome; exploring other planets; and crushes at the moment.

14. My ideal date would consist of a night picnic in an unconventional location, with popcorn as the main course and a long talk about favourite things afterwards. Also we would have to talk about Star Wars a bit.

15. This is pretty obvious, but I am a television addict. I love everything about TV and Film, it is my most favourite form of escapism.

16. I had a dog named Mig when I was little. My older brother got to name him after some airplane or whatever, and I was pretty jealous for a while because I totally thought I could out-name him. My dad got me a yellow canary and I named him.... SAM. If that isn't the definition of failure, I don't know what is.

17. I have a dog right now named Professor. My favourite trick that I make him do is me swearing/cussing really loudly and him responding by jumping on my lap in great concern.

18. I listen to music at a very, very low volume. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I lend someone else my iPod and they turn it all the way up, and when I get it up I get an unspeakable blast of noise. THANKS A LOT FOR RETURNING MY FRIENDSHIP AND SHARING WITH A DESIRE TO MAKE ME GO DEAF, PALS.

19. I have only grown my hair past my shoulders once, unfortunately it was at the peak of my awkward phase, which only made me look even more socially-inept. This is me a few weeks ago after yet another hair-cut:

Hiatus

1. If you haven't noticed, I've pretty much haven't been around Livejournal for ages - I've been working twelve hour days and coming back home at 9 every night, completely exhausted, so the only thing my brain can really do is just watch Battlestar Galactica and get my nerd on. So, please excuse me if I hardly comment etc etc, and if you like your lj-friends post-y and comment-y, I don't mind at all if you cut me. A lot of the time I'm posting at Tumblr anyway, which is much less stressful.

2. Ok yeah, as I mentioned, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica. And I know the whole "OMGZG BEST TV SHOW EVAZZ!!1!" is incredibly annoying and whatever, but I mean it when I say it for this show. Well written and produced, very very addictive, and the cast is frakking amazing. It also brings up a lot of sociological and philosophical arguments about humanity, and you take away a lot from an episode and the things they bring up. So ummmm.. watch it? Even though it will probably up your nerd factor by a lot.

3. I really have to stop spending away the little allowance I'm getting from my internship on stuff from Forever 21. HAVE TO STOP

4. My entire family is gone for four days (yeah greeeeeeeeat, leave me at home while you guys go have an awesome holiday) so I'm all alone, but instead of throwing a party like the normal teenager would do, I am just going to sleep a lot, eat frozen pizza and make sure my new puppy doesn't eat everything.

5. Have a great weekend you guys. Go live your life! Cause being a grown up and going to work kinda takes all that out of you.

Hello Livejournal. My name's Stef! We used to know each other really well, but we haven't seen each other in ages! Sorry about the last few months or so, I got unfortunately caught up in real life, and I don't like it one bit.

1. I started my internship 2 weeks ago. Basically, I work from 9am to 8pm everyday for roughly less than $2 an hour, and I don't even have a proper desk to sit at. (Yeah, being an intern is totally AWESOME!!`1!) I am running errands half the time. Working in a television studio is definitely not as cool as Liz Lemon makes it out to be. It has become a little bit more tolerable, but I'm still very disappointed in the lack of walk/talks and random discussions of what happened on Lost. It's absolutely exhausting though, and by the time I reach home after an hour long bus ride, I can't think or eat or understand the English language. I think it's time I got addicted to something called CAFFEINE.

2. With every new bag I have, I go through a Great Spilling Accident, usually involving uncapped water bottles, huge ink blots from pens and other small disasters. This time, it was bad. Very very bad. My iPod was completely soaked, to the point I could see water in the LCD screen. I'm not sure if I can get it replaced under the warranty scheme, which sucks, cause I got it less than a year ago. What's even worse though, is that I lost a TON of music: entire discographies of artistes that I love dearly. Life without music hurts my parts.

3. It is very hard to have an actual life when you're completely consumed by work. I don't even have time to think about stuff anymore, and I anxiously await next year when I can go on an extended holiday with my friends. Somewhere with a beach, I think, as far away from here as possible. Maybe space? Have you guys heard good things about it?

4. AT LEAST TELEVISION IS BACK. Thank you life and thank you love! 30 Rock and HIMYM are keeping me sane. OH LIZ LEMON WITH YOUR CORPORATE HAIR AND PUTTING SPLENDA IN YOUR WHISKEY (which is something I would totally do too). Robin and Barney MAKING OUT WHAT.

Oh hi people of the interwebs! I have been missing for quite a while.

I just came back from the MOST AMAZING CONCERT EVER.

Broken Social Scene - I know this is oft said, but they are 10 times greater live. Plus, it wasn't an outdoor performance thing, it was in this crazy concert hall which had really good acoustics and everything. It was probably why they played almost an hour more than the thing was supposed to last.

I should say more but I don't think I can form a lot of words right now. Also, Happy belated Birthday to the ever lovely sadaffair. Sorry I couldn't find time to make a proper post for it! I hope you've had a great week hun.

1. I have to visit the hospital for a check-up again tomorrow, which makes it the 4th visit in 3 weeks. At least I feel relatively better - I am sick of taking antibiotics though.

2. It is weird how two weeks away from school sort of made me drift away from everyone. It feels like I have been away a year or something like that. I miss some people very much.

3. Did anyone have a completely uneventful Valentine's Day? I had totally forgotten about it until my friend texted me, and then I realised 90% of the people I was on the bus with were couples partaking in some heavy PDA, which really annoys me.

4. My internship will be starting soon (April to Oct). It'll be 6 months of being a slave to a company that I do not respect. I'll be writing/editing trailers for local/acquired television shows. Let's hope that it'll be around the time they acquire Pushing Daisies so I get to watch it for work.

I am totally, absolutely sick. My entire family is down with the flu, so everyone is just lying in their beds groaning. I had to use a nasal spray just so I could breathe like a normal person, which was gross, and now I have an insane earache. Worst week ever.

Things I liked about that day's episode of Pushing Daisies... in pictures!

This is by far my favourite set. I absolutely adore how kitschy it is.

Olive and Chuck as BFFs please!

Emotional porch scenes, which FNL have taught me to love. I love how the episode ranged from LOL-funny to tearjerker moments. Oh Ned!

I love it when Emerson's all mock-y. Chi McBride! I hated you on House, but I have nothing but love for you on PD.

I really liked how they made the episode feel really noir-ish. I hope I didn't just imagine it though. The music and lighting, especially for some particular scenes, felt very 50s-detective-movies.

ONLY ON Pushing Daisies: The Aunts' heads exploding into CONFETTI and Digby in a ghost costume. Aw.

Again, I apologize for the lack of commenting! Mostly my life now consists of work, coming home, downloading and watching the shows for the day, sleep.

ANYWAY, boy am I glad TV season has started again. I'm withholding comments on FNL until the second/third ep, but I have faith that the writers will handle the whole Landry/Tyra storyline better than some other particular show writers. The sitcoms (The Office, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother) haven't disappointed so far - TINA FEY, HOW I HAVE MISSED HAVING YOU ON MY TV COMPUTER SCREEN. The dramas, however, were really underwhelming, especially the Supernatural premiere, and um, all the new Heroes eps.

However, one show I'm really happy about is Pushing Daisies, pretty much the only new Fall show I've picked up. I was afraid that the second episode would be mediocre, but YAY for the mystery-of-the-week episode format. PD WRITERS, PLEASE NEVER STOP BEING QUIRKY and thinking of all sorts of ways for Ned and Chuck to be all cute and heart-bursting-amounts-of-happiness-inducing.

So, I have to make icons everytime I get into a new show. Honestly, the show itself is so bright and colorful and the shots are prettily cropped, the icons kinda make themselves.

I love their costume designer. The clothes on the show go so perfectly well with the set design, and the whole concept of the show.

Investigating shmvestigating. The whole mystery element in this show makes me feel a little less bitter about not having Veronica Mars around this season.

So I haven't really updated for weeks (months?), i've just been busy and tired and i'm not the kind of person who can randomly write my personal feelings down, and my daily life is really not that exciting to be blogged about, soooo yeah. I'm getting really bad at keeping up with my flist too, so I might cut some people soon, I guess.

Basically, things that have happened in the past few months:

1. School. Filming uninspiring stuff for projects. Etcetra. I did horribly this semester. I was kinda feeling okay about my results, but now I just feel terribly crappy and depressed about it.

2. I got another haircut, which I hate. I should have known it was a bad idea when the hairstylist asked me "you should put blue streaks in your hair". (not like I actually did that.) It'll probably grow out in a few weeks though. Is it weird I have never grown my hair past my shoulders? Which is bad because this doesn't give me a lot to work with. Speaking of haircuts, this is a little alte, but Joie looks freaking gorgeous in those new pictures. Seriously, she can pull off anything.

3. I'm working right now as a temporary telemarketer, which is as boring as it sounds. Worse still, my computer doesn't have internet access so I can't pretend to be doing work while secretly putting together outfits at polyvore. I'm pretty much falling asleep every 3 minutes. I have no idea how people survive 9-5 jobs, it's driving me crazy. Real-world office life is nothing like tv office life - There's no cute guy who carries messenger bags and rolls up his shirt sleeves and plans elaborate pranks and makes fun of all the other workers and falls in love with the receptionist. (That's Jim btw, for you non-Office-watchers)

A few of my favourite songs right now.

Begin Again by California Snow Story.
This song is so breezy and mellow, and the two singers harmonize perfectly.

Skinny Fists by Christians and Lions.
They remind me of Wilco and a mellow Sufjan Stevens with less instruments. Lovely, meaningful lyrics and the trumpet solo in the middle of this song is amazing.

Looks Like Rain by The Postmarks.
Bliss in a song and very french-pop. I love listening to this song when it's raining and the bus I'm on is empty. "Lightning flashes when you glance, i'm thunderstruck" is one of my favourite lyrics on this album.

Birds and the Bees and I Hate Camera by The Bird and The Bee.
I love EVERY single song on their album - every one of them is unique but are still consistent with the sound of the album. Inara George is the lead singer, and I really like what she's done here more than her solo work.

The writing in terms of plotting, pacing, character development, etc has significantly improved so much from the first few eps of season 1 and the boys aren't just pretty faces. They act their freaking hearts out and have grown into their characters. It's beautifully filmed - the cinematography is subtle and beautiful, and there's an amazing use of shadows. Also, it has one of the best and most fun fandoms ever.)

I'm really sick of people going on about how Transformers is the Greatest Movie Ever. I guess it's one of the more successful movies this summer, and kinda fun if I wasn't being all movie-snobby, but it had no substance, the worst dialogue ever, and I kinda wanted to kick most of the cast members in the face (Especially Megan Fox. Her delivery of lines is painful to watch sometimes.) I appreciated the car/ CGI porn though. 38 hours to render one frame of CGI animation is insane.

I watched Schindler's List in Film class yesterday. Now that's an amazing and incredibly powerful movie.

So, a few weeks ago my picspam options were either a season-finales-picspam OR another FNL picspam. Instead I went to catch up on both seasons of Supernatural (Really glad I gave this show a second chance after giving up on it mid-s1. It's really improved plot-wise, and it has an awesome fandom. Seriously, this show has the best fanfics around.), both seasons of How I Met Your Mother (I'm surprised at how much I like this show. Lesson: Don't judge it just because it's on CBS and has a laugh track!) and 30 Rock, which is made of complete awesomeness. Which led me to this, a 30 Rock picspam/pimp-post thing. Picspam because the show is all bright and pretty, and pimp-post because more people need to watch this. It is one of the best comedies out there right now, and I think I honestly loved the whole season more than the latest season of The Office (although both are made of WIN.)

This could be sort of spoilery for extreme spoiler-phobes, but mostly I only included my favourite moments/quotes from the first few episodes. You can catch up on the episodes when NBC reruns them from July 5th (or, I might upload them soon, if I have the time).

Why you should be watching 30 Rock
- You will easily fall in love with Liz Lemon (Tiny Fey). She makes constant Star Wars references, is as much into fandom as most of us are and is completely adorable, even with lettuce in her hair. LIZ LEMON IS ENOUGH REASON FOR YOU TO WATCH THIS!
- Alec Baldwin is a comedy god. He has the best deadpan line deliveries.
- The show has some of the best guest-stars. Conan O'Brien (Tracy Does Conan), Will Arnett (Fireworks), Isabella Rossellini (Black Tie, Up All Night), LL Cool J as rapper Ridikulous (The Source Awards), and so on.
- It is a constant source of gut-laughs.
- Liz/Flower Guy. The cuteness that is the two of them rivals Jim/Pam, Matt/Julie cuteness ok?
- The show has a great ensemble cast and some of the most offbeat supporting characters since Arrested Development.. You will love every one of them.
- 30 Rock sketches are actually funny, unlike Studio 60's. (we don't see a lot of them though.) (Heard over the PA system: "Homophobic Gays")
- There are a lot of recurring roles by SNL alums (Rachel Dratch, Chris Parnell, etc)

Liz Lemon: You're not gonna come to our crappy poker game, are you?
Jack Donaghy: No I'm not.
Lemon: Good.
Donaghy: I bluffed, yes I am coming.

Donaghy: I want you to go out in your lunch hour, and find something in a women's clothing store.

Here I am again after weeks (months?) of non-updates. I hope you guys still remember me :/

I don't know how the past two months kinda whizzed by so fast. I thought my three weeks in Australia would last forever, but then that went by too quickly, and my heart got left behind there when I came back. It's really weird how those 18 days changed a lot of the relationships I had with a lot my friends, and it's disappointing how some of us have drifted apart since we came home.

I think a lot of those new relationships threw me into this whole drama thing. I've spent the last month dealing with other people's emotional issues. Sometimes I don't get it, how people can just get into such complicated situations, and drag everyone else in with it. Well, okay, I kind of get that. The whole dragging everyone into it, needing people around you, even though there's a 99% chance everybody else will sink with you. But I'm getting so sick of it. I've been moving on from someone else's one tree hill to another person's oc. It's so unnecessary. And it's not like I can ignore it or whatever, because as their friend, it's kind of an obligation, y'know? And even if it wasn't an obligation, I'd still be there. Because the feeling of being there for someone and helping them out is nice. It kinda makes me forget about my own issues, which is a good and bad thing. It makes me feel less lonely.

Just wish everyone would stop being so over-dramatic already.

Wow that was kind of an emo-fied paragraph and I don't really think it made a lot of sense. Just had to get that out.

Anyhooooo. This temp teacher I have basically called me a bimbo in class yesterday. I think he's less than 25 years old and he's still studying in some university, and well, he's a really really bad teacher and kind of socially inept. So he was sort of going on and on about his academic qualifications and how much it takes to get into colleges and stuff and he asks me and my friend how we're doing in school. And my friend, bless her heart, tells him I'm on the Honor list, and he just says to me something like "Are you sure? You don't look smart enough" with the prissiest bitchface ever. If I was more assertive and felt more awake (it was a 9am class) I would have kicked him in the groin.

I can't believe VM's officially cancelled. I know a lot of people on my flist hate the show and KB/RT, but it meant a lot to me (even though I didn't talk a lot about it here cause 90% of my flist are from the OTH fandom. Wow. I have to get more other-fandom friends.) Yeah, season 2 and 3 are incomparable to season 1. But it was still one of the smartest shows out there. Veronica was an incredible, well-written female character. Yeah, she was unapologetic. Unforgiving. Self-absorbed. Who isn't like that sometimes? I can't stand it when people were all "OMGZ VERONICA WHAT A BITCH SO I'M GIVING UP ON THIS SHOW."

Dawn Ostroff cancelling it in favour of shows like One Tree Hill is so whacked up. Waaaaaaaay to go, Dawn. Nice to know you still believe in ~*~*~quality television~*~*~*~.

Might be doing a finale round-up soon since I haven't really squeed about TV for a while. And maybe a Friday Night Lights picspam. I need to say this though:

WASN'T THE OFFICE THAT DAY ALL SORTS OF AWESOME? Aw, Pam.

So much love for this show, and for Jenna Fischer. It's like they forgot to give her the full script to the last scene, the way she rocked that reaction. Like she didn't know Jim would come back for her. The uncontrollable smile. The watery eyes. The lip biting of happiness! Her whole FACE just lights up.

I miss having an episode of total goodness to watch every week. FNL COME BACK SOON PLEASE. Or at least, have your DVD released early. With lots and lots of deleted scenes and gag reels.

Kind of hate my coloring, but whatever. I might do another FNL picspam soon, just because. I rewatched the first five eps that day and cried more than I cried the first time, which is weird. :/

In other news, I've decided to start watching Supernatural again for completely shallow reasons such as Dean's sexhair and gratuitous crotch shots. Uhm, ok, and maybe the plot too.

I had the time of my life in Australia. It was supposed to be an exchange program but it ended up being SO much fun. I'm not going to try to catch up on my f-list, but I hope everyone's doing well.

I realise I haven't posted pictures of myself before here, so don't laugh you guys! I'm the one with the short hair and bangs, with kind of a big nose.

This was basically the view from my apartment every evening. Awesome, huh? I'll never get to see sights like that in Singapore.

Uhm. Basically 50% of the pictures I took consisted of the blue sky and the perfect clouds. Mostly because the sky here is always grey.

Fremantle was this little sea-town with the best fish and chips and quaint little shops.

I kind of feel like I'm drifting away from a lot of you guys ever since I gave up on OTH. I might do a friends cut soon. A lot of you don't comment anymore plus I only ever read some journals, which makes me sound terrible and petulant.

Also, HOLY CRAP MUDBOWL SEQUENCE IN FNL? Best ever. A+++! I missed three awesome episodes while I was there. OH COACH. Like you'd leave your awesome wife behind. My girlcrush for Tami grows every episode. Why hasn't NBC renewed this already?

I haven't updated in ages and have been a terrible LJ friend. I just haven't had a lot of time lately (despite it being my school vacation) plus my internet keeps screwing up. Sorry I haven't been able to comment much!

Does anyone have the pictures of Zach Gilford from dekolette's post a few weeks ago? I forgot to save them and it's f-locked now I think. I NEED TO MAKE ICONS OR SOMETHING OUT OF THEM.

Still haven't watched The Black Donnellys yet. Everyone seemed to really love the pilot and now it's kinda died down, cause I haven't read that many posts about the recent episodes. Should I download it? My friend told me it definitely doesn't have long-term potential so I don't want to start watching it only to give up 5 episodes into it.

I'll be going to Australia for about 3 weeks tomorrow for an exchange program and I probably won't have a lot of internet access (OHMYGODIMGONNAMISSFNLNEXTWEEK) so I won't able to read/comment.

I love the first picture there. It's when Coach Taylor comes over to Matt's house in the second episode and his grandma says "Wasn't he wonderful in the game that day?" and Matt just breaks out in this breathless smile and goes "Thank you grandma". Beautiful.

TIM! :( I felt so bad for him here, when he started crying while watching the game tape. I think it's the most emotional scene we've seen him in, cause most of the time he's so stoic.

Both of them are so adorably out of place at a party. I love how Matt practically approaches her at every opportunity.

That's where he does the little flashdance for his grandma. CUTE.

He has so much on his shoulders. Plus, I really love the direction in this scene, they shoot at it from all angles.

The dance recital is one of my favourite Matt/Julie scenes. The lighting in this scene is so PRETTY. Also, Julie's dance outfit? I WANT IT.

I love how Matt is just smiling to himself throughout the whole thing. COACH AND TAMI. "Friends? Friends? Friends?" Kyle and Connie have amazing chemistry.
